I am a total newbie when it comes to Docker and Kubernetes. I put this together to document what worked for me as there wasn’t one single source that covered everything.

Why?

I did this for the same reason that I have done most of my other posts — I want to learn something new. Docker and Kubernetes have been around for a while now, but I haven’t had a use case for them at work, so I need to do it on my time.

Introduction

The Apache Hadoop software library is a framework that allows for the distributed processing of large data sets across clusters of computers using simple programming models. It is designed to scale up from single servers to thousands of machines, each offering local computation and storage. Rather than rely on hardware to deliver high-availability, the library itself is designed to detect and handle failures at the application layer, so delivering a highly-available service on top of a cluster of computers, each of which may be prone to failures. Installing Maven on the Raspberry Pi 2

Introduction

Apache Maven is a software project management and comprehension tool. Based on the concept of a project object model (POM), Maven can manage a project’s build, reporting and documentation from a central piece of information. While Maven can be installed via Aptitude, we want to avoid doing that on the Raspberry Pi 2 because it has a dependency on OpenJDK, which we want to avoid. Maven and Oracle JDK 7 (or higher) is a requirement for building Hadoop. This post will outline the steps you need to perform, to install Maven on the Raspberry Pi 2.
